KNIGHTDALE One person was shot by Knightdale police after officers were dispatched to the location of an alleged suicide threat early Thursday morning.No officers were injured in the altercation. The subject, who police did not identify, was said Thursday to be in custody at WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries. According to a press release issued by police Chief Shawn Brown, Knightdale officers were forced to defend themselves with gunfire after arriving at 324 Park Ave. at about 12:30 a.m. The call was dispatched as a suicide threat in which the subject had a gun.When officers arrived at 324 Park Avenue on the outskirts of downtown, they were met by a relative of the resident. While speaking with the relative a man confronted the Knightdale officers, at which time they discharged their weapons. The State Bureau of Investigation, the Wake County Sheriff's Office and Knightdale detectives are working together to investigate the incident.
Police have not identified the officers involved in the shooting.
