KNIGHTDALE - The Knightdale Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations for its annual Citizen of the Year award.
Since 1995, the Knightdale chamber has honored a resident who has made an outstanding contribution to the town.
“The recipient will be a person in the Knightdale area who has demonstrated a long-term commitment of service to enhance the quality of life in our community or has made an outstanding contribution to the Knightdale community,” according to a chamber press release.
The recipient does not need to be a member of the Chamber and there are no age restrictions.
The nomination process began in December but has started off slow, says Jennifer Bryan, executive director of the chamber. No nominations have been submitted.
“Think about your neighbors or your friends who have touched lives and done good things to improve our community,” Bryan advised Knightdale residents. “I’m certain we have many deserving nominees out there.”
Last year, Rev. Adrian Dixon, pastor at Northside Community Church of Knightdale and director of spiritual care for Duke Raleigh Hospital, won the honor.
The chamber also honors businesses of the year.
The award goes to a chamber of commerce member who has demonstrated leadership, devotion, generosity and commitment to the programs and workings of the Knightdale chamber and the town.
Last year’s winners were Knightdale Family Medicine and Tina Todd’s Tan-U.
Nomination forms can be obtained at the chamber office, Knightdale Town Hall or on the chamber’s Web site at knightdalechamber.org. Nomination forms must be either returned to the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, 207 Main Street, Knightdale, NC 27545 or Knightdale Town Hall, 950 Steeple Square Court.
The deadline for nominations is Jan. 31. The winner will be announced at the Chamber’s annual banquet on Feb. 23.
