KNIGHTDALE - A student at Knightdale High School was arrested on Nov. 28 after police discovered a knife in his possession.
Donjuan Emanuel Smart, 17, of 1520 Aragon Drive, on Nov. 28 was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct after he created a disturbance in the hallways by yelling and cursing, Knightdale Public Safety Director Shawn Brown said.
Upon apprehension of Smart, the campus police officer discovered a knife in his pocket.
It’s the second time this school year that a student has brought a weapon to Knightdale High.
In September, a 15-year-old student brought an unloaded pistol to campus.
Carla Jernigan, Knightdale High principal, said she is “always concerned when a student has a weapon on campus.
But that, “there’s a huge difference between a pocket knife and another type of knife,” she said.
Smart was taken to the Wake County jail and later released on Nov. 30.
It’s unclear whether Smart was allowed to return to campus. Disciplinary action against students is confidential.
Smart is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 4.
