WENDELL - A 21-year-old illegal immigrant has been arrested for statutory rape, indecent liberties with a minor, and assault on a female after police responded to a domestic disturbance call to his Wendell home.

Gerson Antonio Alvarado-Ruiz, of 556 Industrial Drive, on Nov. 27 was arrested for damage to personal property after he knocked over a mailbox, Wendell police say.

This week, he was charged with statutory rape after a police investigation into his relationship with a minor.

“It appears that the suspect and the victim had a child together, but the victim was under the age of concent, maybe 15 years old, when the child was conceived,” Wendell investigator Roy Holloway said.

Holloway said the child is less than one year old.

It remains unclear whether Alvarado-Ruiz will be deported back to his native Honduras, Holloway said.

Alvarado-Ruiz remains in custody under a $200,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 15 and Dec. 29.

A judge will hear the felony charges against Alvarado-Ruiz on the latter date.
