East Wake School of Health Science recently recognized 110 students who made the principal's list for earning a 4.0 or above grade point average, along with 109 students who made the honor roll for earning a 3.0-3.9 and 102 students who had perfect attendance.
Almost 54 percent of the school's total student population earned mostly As and Bs during the first quarter this year according to Victoria Mohr, a teacher at EWSHS.
For the first time, the school also recognized students with positive behavior by holding a drawing for the qualified 350 students.
Students who have not received a teacher discipline referral were eligible.
The positive behavior winners were Briana Arnold, who won a $50 gift card from Best Buy; Karon Smith, who won an iPod Shuffle; and Carmen Ramirez, who won a digital camera package.
Best Buy contributed the gift card and the prizes were purchased with money from a grant awarded through the East Wake Adult Spelling Bee.
