Fundraisers

Have breakfast at the Pilot Lions Community Center 6-10 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. Menu includes country ham, link and patty sausage, homemade biscuits and jams, scrambled eggs and grits with red-eye gravy. There's also a reverse raffle with a grand prize of $1,000. Proceeds benefit the Lions Community Park and other projects. See any Lion for tickets.

The Knightdale High School FCCLA Flapjack fundraiser is 8 a.m. Saturday at the Applebee's restaurant, 6609 Knightdale Blvd. Call Kenrick Mekoba at 768-7170 for tickets, which are $7. Breakfast includes a short stack of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee.

The Corinth Holders High School Army JROTC is holding a hot dog sale fundraiser 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Wendell IGA, 2971 Wendell Blvd. Proceeds help pay for the cadets' trip to Washington, D.C., and their military ball.

Divine Destiny

Divine Destiny Adult Care Inc. is holding a pre-Open House tour 3-7 p.m. Nov. 30, followed by a Candle Light Reflection Ceremony in memory of deceased love ones 7-8 p.m. at 612 Powell St., Smithfield.

After School Camp

Wendell Parks and Recreation Center staff are running an after-school program from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday for elementary and middle school children. Camp costs $40 a week or $150 a month. Call 366-0515 for more information or email . Parents can also register their children at the Wendell Parks and Recreation Center.

Voters' coalition meets

The Eastern Wake Voter's Coalition, a nonpartisan organization, meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Trinity Faith Full Gospel Church, 6600 Hallelujah Blvd., Wendell. Guest speaker and presenter is Adam Sotak of Democracy North Carolina. The EWVC provides an opportunity for minority and women residents to become more informed about prevailing issues in their community and more engaged. Classes

An Eight week beginner - advance pottery class is offered at Knightdale Recreation Center, 6-9 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 28-Feb. 6 except during the winter holiday, Dec. 19 - Jan. 9. This class costs $80 and includes 25 pounds of clay

Open Studio for enrolled students is 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 29-Feb. 7, closed during the winter holiday. Cost: $24 for eight weeks, patrons must be enrolled in pottery class to participate in Open Studio. Call 217-2236 for more information.

There's a Notary Public Class 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 29 at the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, 207 Main Street. Register online at knightdalechamber.org or call 266-4603.

Zebulon Community Library

Kids can enjoy stories, crafts, games, experiments and more during an afternoon of adventure Thursdays 4-5 p.m. Now through Dec. 8 for ages 5-12.

Dec. 1 - Make Christmas Ornament.

Dec. 8 - Drop by to build a cookie house 4-6 p.m. Candy donations are welcomed.

Tuesdays enjoy "Tales at Twilight," a picture book club for ages 4-8. Follow along with a book as it is read aloud then share in a fun activity, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Library

Dec. 1- N.C. Symphony Kids at 4:30 p.m.

Dec. 6 - 6:30 p.m. See Spot read. Kids of all ages are invited to practice reading skills by reading to a calm, lovable dog. The library staff brings the dog, the child chooses the book.

Make a graham cracker house for the holidays. Bring a bag of candy to share for house decorations.

Read to a child

Zebulon Middle School needs volunteers who are willing to read excerpts from their favorite books. Come read a book between 7:10-7:30 a.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month. If this time isn't convenient there are others times possible. Reading a favorite book models Reading is Fun. This community involvement promotes reading as a fun thing to do, which improves literacy. Stop by the guidance office any day to register as an official WCPSS volunteer and sign the Reading is Fun list.

The Wake Literacy Council conducts English classes at East Wake Education Foundation. Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays. Space is limited so please call 366-5901 or stop by 16 East Fourth St., Wendell, to register.

Mondays: Story and craft time and Song and Dance Tuesday: Ready, Set, Read class. This is a free preschool class open to the public.

Wednesdays: Story and craft and Song and Dance.

Thursdays: Weekly in-house field trips. These free activities start at 10 a.m. We are located at 16 E. Dec 4th St. Call 366-5901.

Networking

Come connect with other businesses in Knightdale at Applebee's, 6609 Knightdale Blvd., Knightdale, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. the third Tuesday monthly. Eat, mingle, share a 30-second commercial and get useful information.

Knightdale Chamber of Commerce's Professional Women's Networking Group meets from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the chamber office, 207 Main St.

Knightdale Business after hours is 5:30-7 p.m. at the chamber office, 207 Main St. Network, enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and win door prizes.

The Professional Women's Networking Group meets 11:45 a.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the chamber office, 207 Main St.
