Reginald Donnell Sims, 39, of 107 E. Barbee St. in Zebulon, was identified as the suspect in the armed robbery. Sims, who implied he had a weapon in the store, was taken into custody at his residence a short while after the robbery.

He now faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of crack cocaine, damage to property, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer.

The incident at the Walgreens at the corner of Arendell and Gannon avenues in Zebulon was reported at approximately 3:09 p.m. Friday.

No injuries occurred during the incident.

Sims was taken to the Wake County Jail and placed under a $158,000 secured bond.

Sims has a history of robbery and other crimes, including rape, according to North Carolina Department Of Correction records.

He served a nine-month sentence from April 2009 to January 2010 after being convicted of larceny.

He was convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon and common law robbery on April 29, 1999 and served a sentence from until June 12, 2007.

Sims was convicted of second-degree rape on Nov. 4 1992 and released from prison on Jan. 11, 1996.

He was also convicted of assault and carrying a concealed weapon and served a two-month sentence in 1989.
