ZEBULON - A Zebulon man is scheduled to appear in court today on charges he robbed the Walgreens Friday afternoon.Reginald Donnell Sims, 39, of 107 E. Barbee St. in Zebulon, was identified as the suspect in the armed robbery. Sims, who implied he had a weapon in the store, was taken into custody at his residence a short while after the robbery.He now faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of crack cocaine, damage to property, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer.The incident at the Walgreens at the corner of Arendell and Gannon avenues in Zebulon was reported at approximately 3:09 p.m. Friday.No injuries occurred during the incident.Sims was taken to the Wake County Jail and placed under a $158,000 secured bond.Sims has a history of robbery and other crimes, including rape, according to North Carolina Department Of Correction records. He served a nine-month sentence from April 2009 to January 2010 after being convicted of larceny.He was convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon and common law robbery on April 29, 1999 and served a sentence from until June 12, 2007.Sims was convicted of second-degree rape on Nov. 4 1992 and released from prison on Jan. 11, 1996.He was also convicted of assault and carrying a concealed weapon and served a two-month sentence in 1989.
