The legislature has put this ball in our court.
This is where it belongs.
However, in the fight that is coming, and I believe it will be quite a conflict, we must not lose sight of two important principles that we who call ourselves Christians should hold dear.
First, the Bible is clear. Homosexuality is a sin and an abomination in the sight of God.
Marriage is defined as one man and one woman, no question about it.
The forces that say otherwise are either misguided or deluded in their thinking that the Bible says anything otherwise.
I urge them to read both the Old and the New Testaments where it states this clearly.
Second though is the fact that the Bible also states clearly, love your neighbor, which includes those who have a differing view from ours.
This debate should never devolve into a time of hatred. Yes, we should hate the idea and the actions, but never, under any circumstance, should we hate the person on the other side.
We must have civil debate and not allow the ugly head of hatred in the door.
While it is true that homosexuals will one day stand before a righteous God and answer for their actions, we must remember one immutable fact, so will the rest of us.
