Line dancers

The Eastern Wake Senior Center needs adults 55 and older to join the "East Wake Strutters," a line dance group. The senior center offers free line dancing classes and the chance to perform for local senior groups at the State Fair and at local fairs and festivals. Call Carol Bessette-Battle at 365-4248.

Wounded Warrior fundraiser

Wendell IGA is holding a cause-marketing initiative to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Now through Nov. 11, IGA will donate 5 cents from the sale of every case of its Private Label Brands to the project, an organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. Brands include IGA, Morning Fresh, HyTop and Better Valu.

Community Day

Knightdale Community Day is from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Harper Park. Enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, rock climbing, live entertainment and more. Call 217-2236.

Zumba in the

library

Mariu Garcia, a certified group fitness instructor, will teach Zumba exercises, weather permitting, 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in the East Regional Library side yard. There is no rain date. Stop by at 946 Steeple Square Court, Knightdale; call 217-5300; or email jmorley@wakegov.com to register.

After school

programs

From Sept. 14-24, the library offers an after-school program on peace. Starting Sept. 21, program attendees will read the book "What Does Peace Feel Like?" by Vladimir Radunsky and make hand-print doves and cards with thoughts of peace written on them. These cards will go to an area nursing home.

Small business

administration day

Representatives with the U.S. Small Business Administration will be at the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, 207 Main St., Tuesday, Sept. 20 and Nov. 1, offering free consultations about SBA resources. Appointments begin at 9 a.m. Call the chamber office at 266-4603 to schedule a 30-minute appointment or register online at www.knightdalechamber.org.

Meet your District 4 School Board Candidate. East Wake Dems invites any who live in the newly-formed Knightdale school board District 4 to a meet and greet with school board candidate Keith Sutton.
