Cathy Tyner Summerlin, 49, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 22, 2011, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous fifteen year battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with entombment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Cathy retired from the State Bureau of Investigation, where she had many special co-workers. She also had many special friends from high school whom she spoke of often and fondly. Special thanks to all for the many kindnesses expressed during her many years of illness. She is survived by her parents, Shelton and Betty Pilkington Wall of Zebulon, brother, Jody Wall and wife, Gilda of Wendell, niece, Taylor Wall of Wendell and nephew, Dean Wall of Wendell, beloved dogs, Panda and Issis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Summerlin, father, Lehman Tyner, maternal grandparents, Ernest and Ophelia Pilkington, paternal grandparents, Wilton and Hazel Wall.
