RALEIGH -- Police have seized the cell phone of a woman in connection with the January slaying of a Domino's pizza manager in Knightdale, according to court records made public Tuesday. But no arrests have been made in Kenneth Ring's death, police reported.Ring, 24, was assaulted with a blunt object and robbed Jan. 9 at the pizza store. He was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he died Jan. 11, police reported.Nico D'Angelo Bowers, who works for the store as a delivery driver, told police that Ring was alone in the store when he left at 12:20a.m. to make a delivery. He said he returned about 12:37a.m. and found Ring beaten and on the floor of the manager's office, Knightdale detective M. Boryla stated in the court affidavit.Police also questioned Bowers' brother, Travis Melton Sherman, who Bowers told them had been riding with him earlier in the evening. Bowers and Sherman told police that Sherman's girlfriend, Anna Painter, picked him up about 11 p.m. at the store. Sherman told them he spent the rest of the night with Painter. But when police talked with Painter, she said she had not dated Sherman since the previous summer. She said he phoned her and asked her to tell police he was with her that night. Painter told the police that when she asked why she should lie, he told her it wasn't important, according to the search warrant.
Knightdale police declined to comment Tuesday.
