CINCINNATI, OH - Former Major Leaguer David Bell will return to the dugout at Five County Stadium next spring to manage the Cincinnati Reds' double-A Carolina Mudcats.

Joining Bell again this season will be hitting coach Ryan Jackson and athletic trainer Jimmy Mattocks. Tom Brown, who served as pitching coach of the single-A Sarasota Reds for the past three season, will join the Mudcats staff in the same role.

Bell, 37, will skipper the Mudcats following a 65-74 season in 2009. He retired as a player following the 2006 season after 12 years and 1,403 games in the Major Leagues with the Indians, Cardinals, Mariners, Giants, Phillies and Brewers. He appeared in three Division Series and three League Championship Series and was a member of San Francisco's 2002 World Series team. He is a member of one of three Major League Baseball's 3-generation families. His grandfather Gus played for the Reds from 1953-61. His father, Buddy, played for the Reds from 1985-88 and his brother Mike played for the Reds in 2000.

Brown, 60, has served as pitching coach for minor league teams in Albuquerque, Fresno, Portland, Oklahoma and Las Vegas. He was also the minor league pitching coordinator for the San Diego Padres.
