WENDELL - The town recently received construction authorization for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration for the construction of two crosswalks at the intersection of Third and Main Street.
A grant of $52,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was awarded the town for the projects.
The crosswalks will involve curb cuts at the corners of Main and Third Streets and will be constructed with either stamped asphalt or concrete.
The town submitted a request for the ARRA funding through the Capitol Area Metropolitan Planning Organization or CAMPO.
Wendell and its engineer for the project will proceed with the solicitation of bids for the construction of the project.
