Computer Classes

The Riley Hill Technology Center, 5901 Riley Hill Road, Wendell will hold adult computer classes this fall. You can register at the center from noon-5 p.m. Monday through Friday or you can call 365-4899 and leave your name and telephone number. Seats are limited. Hispanic students must be able to speak some English.

The Practical Internet class will start Nov. 5 and will be held every Thursday from 6-8 p.m. until Dec. 27.

Appliances needed

The Helping Hand Mission in Wendell is seeking used appliances. The agency is in need of such items as refrigerators, microwaves or other appliances which can be given to families in need. Donated material can be dropped off at the mission between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The mission is at 16 S. Pine Street, Wendell. Call Jane Coley at 365-0757 with questions.

Gardening talks

The East Regional Library is holding talks on gardening. On Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m., Tom Harville, President of the Triangle chapter of the Native Plant Society, will present a program on "Gardening with Native Plants."

Trick-or-treating cancelled

The annual trick-or-treating hosted by Robinwood Apartments in Wendell has been cancelled this year because of concerns over the spread of illness.

Halloween events include Spooky Scary Stories (7-10-year-olds) today (Wednesday), Oct 28, at 6:30 p.m.

Pajama Jammie Jam, a story time for children of all ages in which attendees can wear their pajamas will take place Nov. 10 and 24 at 6:30 p.m.

College planning workshop

There will be a college planning workshop sponsored by the College Foundation of North Carolina Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the East Regional Library. Call the library at 217-5318 to register.

Quilt show and raffle

The Pins and Needles annual quilt show and raffle will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Riley Hill Family Life Center, 5901 Riley Hill Road in Wendell.

Proceeds from the event benefit breast cancer research. Admission is $3 and raffle tickets are $1 or six for $5.

Sewing group

The sewing group at the Eastern Wake Senior Center is seeking donations of printed and/or solid fabric pieces to assist in their efforts to make lap quilts for seniors in area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Call 365-4248.

Information and application

sessions

From now through the end of the year, Habitat for Humanity will host Information and Application Sessions at the Eastern Regional Center every other Monday from 9 a.m.-noon.

The remaining dates for 2009 are Nov. 2, Nov. 16, Nov. 30 and Dec. 14. For more information, contact John McIntyre at 833-1999 ext. 249.

Bus trip

Olde Heritage Builders plan to charter a bus to Washington D.C. on Veterans Day for any veteran who wants to go. All expenses will be paid, including meals. The bus will leave about 7 a.m. and return after dark. Veterans interested in attending may call 269-4555 by Nov. 1.
