ZEBULON - The owners of the last two tickets in the Zebulon Chamber of Commerce's reverse raffle struck a deal before the last ticket was pulled that made them all winners.
Staff members of J&M Chevrolet's body shop held one of the $100 tickets and J&M Chevrolet sales manager Donald Boykin held the other.
The men agreed not to draw the final ticket and split the $5,000 pot. Boykin got $2,500 out of the deal and the five members of the body shop who went in together to purchase the other ticket split the other $2,500.
Chamber president Heather Bunting said the fundraiser, which had been shelved for a few years, turned out to be a good deal for chamber members, too.
"We raised about $11,000 from the ticket sales and we'll use that money to support chamber members through the programs the chamber offers," Bunting said.
The Body Shop Boys, as the group of five staffers call themselves, haven't said what they will do with their winnings.
Boykin, who purchased three tickets in an effort to win the top prize, said his wife has already made plans for his winnings.
