WENDELL An argument between brothers left one man in the hospital and the other in jail.

Police were called to 35 E. Maggie Court just before 7:30 last night where they found Martin David Maughan stabbed several times in the back.

According to police, Maughan, 34, and his brother, Gabriel Scott Maughan, 29, both of 35 E. Maggie Court, began arguing. Police don’t yet know what the argument was about. During the argument, Martin Maughan struck his brother in the back with a large stick. Gabriel Maughan then stabbed Martin Maughan several times in the back with a pair of scissors.

Sgt. Landon Hare and Off. Henry Gibbs responded to the call. They arrested Gabriel Maughan and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Wake County jail under $30,000 bond. Martin Maughan was taken to WakeMed for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. Police have drawn up an arrest warrant against Martin Maughan charging him with assault with a deadly weapon. That warrant will be served when he is well enough to leave the hospital.
