SOUTH HILL, VA. – Elaine Hancock Howbert, 76, of South Hill, Va. died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at her home. A native of Laurel Fork, Va., she was the daughter of the late Curtis M. and Annie H. Hancock and was a retired nurse.

Survivors include her husband Jack M. Howbert; two daughters, Katrina J. Howbert of Roanoke, Va. and Rebecca H. Whitfield of Wendell; two sons, Jack H. Howbert of Portsmouth, Ohio and Curtis M. Howbert of Lebanon, Ohio; three sisters, Regena Hancock and Donna Hancock, both of South Hill, Va. and Gayle Chapman of Livermore, Calif.; three brothers Rex Hancock of Hillsville, Va., Daryl Hancock of Gerrardston, W. Va. and Dan Hancock of Bullock; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory in South Hill, Va. Burial followed in Crestview Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund 1212 Chaulk Level Road, South Hill, Va. 23970 or Community Memorial Hospice, P. O. Box 90, South Hill, Va., 23970.
