ZEBULON – Clarence Gentry Mangum, 85, of 125 Westside Circle, died Thursday, June 11, 2009.

A native of Durham County, he was the son of the late George and JoAnne Darty Mangum. He spent his life as a farmer.

Survivors include his special friend of many years Emma Faye Chalk of the home; two sons, Nelson Mangum and wife Deborah of Wilson and Terry Wayne Chalk and wife April of Bunn Level; two daughters, Vera Hunt of Franklinton and Betty Wise and husband Jamie of Zebulon; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Union Chapel Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Strickland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
