BENSON – Anne Oxendine Godwin, 77, of 110 Norris Lane, Benson, died Tuesday, May 26, at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield.Born Jan. 31, 1932, in Sampson County, Mrs. Godwin was the daughter of the late Rev. Henderson Edward Oxendine and the late Daisy Bird Oxendine. She was the widow of the Rev. William Jasper Godwin. Mrs. Godwin was a homemaker, a singer and a pianist. Also, she taught classes for the Johnston County Council on Aging.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, 301 W. Main St., Benson. The Revs. Ron Godwin and Sherrill Pope will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.Surviving are three daughters, Carol Anderson of Smithfield, Jewelle Norris of Benson and Debbie Sigmon Jackson of Kenly; three sons, Ron Godwin of Four Oaks, Donald Godwin of Zebulon and Edward Godwin of Clayton; two sisters, Edna Jenkins of Florida and Willie Ruth Holmes of Benson; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the funeral home and other times at the home of Ron Godwin, 180 Sandy Road, Four Oaks.
