RALEIGH - Ruth Davenport Riddick, 98, formerly of 7589 Mackeys Road, Mackeys, died October 6, 2009 at WakeMed.
After health issues, she came to live with her daughter in Raleigh.
A native of Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Newsome Harrison Davenport and Madeline D. Davenport and the widow of Columbus George Riddick.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Edwards and her husband, Nelson of Raleigh; one step-daughter, Maxine R. Hooker of New Bern; one sister, Marion D. Windley of Columbia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three children, Meretta, Rebecca and Calvin and three step-children, Cleo, Louise and William.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Saints Delight Church of Christ in Roper. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Arrangements were by L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory.
