East Wake High School and Knightdale High School’s SAT scores showed an increased over last year, according to scores released Tuesday by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. Overall, in Wake County SAT scores how the average score for a combined reading and math 14 points higher than last year with a combined total score of 1,073. In Eastern Wake, at the East Wake School of Health Science, 38.8 percent of the students took the test and scored467, math, 422, critical reading, 889, combined total; East Wake School of Integrated Technology, 19.6 percent, 417, math, 394, critical reading, 811, combined total; East Wake Arts Education and Global Studies, 21.3 percent, 470, math, 471, critical reading, 941, combined total; East Wake School of Engineering, 27 percent, 491, math, 419, critical reading, 910, combined total. The average combined total of all schools at East Wake this year is 921, three points higher than last year’s average combined total. Fifty percent of all students took the exam. At Knightdale High School, 52.6 percent of the students took the exam, scoring 477, math, 460, reading and 937, combined total. This year’s score is 19 points higher than last year’s 918. Wake county scores are above the state and national averages, which both dropped one point. The national average is 1,016 and the state average is 1,006.
