A native of Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late William Clyde Helms and Addie Robinson Helms. She was retired from the N.C. Department of Revenue and from Devil Dog Manufacturing Company. She was member of Wendell Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, David Lee Orr; two sons, Reggie Orr and his wife Ida and Jeff Orr and his wife Teri all of Raleigh; two daughters, Leanne Phelps and her husband Tim of Clayton and Tracee Jones and her husband Kirby of Pilot.; two brothers, Gary Helms and Lewis Helms both of Concord; three sisters, Joanne Phillips and Judy Allen both of Midland and Linda McManus of Rockwell; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the L. Harold Poole Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Eddie Brackett and the Rev. Baxter Prevatte officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory in Knightdale and at other times at the home.
