William A. “Teeny” Hunnicutt Jr., 89, of Raleigh, died July 30 at Rex Healthcare. Funeral will be Aug. 2 at Samaria Baptist Church, Raleigh. Burial will be at the church cemetery.He was born in Wake County July 15, 1919, son of the late William Artemus Hunnicutt Sr. and Addie Lillian Lassiter Hunnicutt. He was a retired bus driver with Greyhound Bus Co. with 37 years of service. He was a member of Samaria Baptist Church where he was a lifetime deacon, Sunday school teacher, young men’s Bible class, and, in later years, served on the cemetery committee along with building and grounds committee. He was on the board of directors of Samaria Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Willette Jeffreys, Hallie H. Bradley and Mary Elizabeth Wilder.Surviving: wife of 70 years, Edna Earle Cooke Hunnicutt; sons, William A. Hunnicutt III and wife Virginia of Wendell, Roger Lloyd Hunnicutt and wife Jackie of Raleigh, Col. Gerald Edward Hunnicutt and wife Betty of Fayetteville; daughter, Susan Earle Hunnicutt and special friend Bob Booth of Randleman; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a host of special friends.Memorial contributions may be made to Samaria Baptist Church, 3621 Poole Road, Raleigh 27610.
