The Carolina Hurricanes again hate to see January coming to an end.
A year ago, the Canes were 10-4-0 in January. They're 7-2-1 this year heading into Friday's home game against the St. Louis Blues and will end the month Saturday in New York against the Rangers.
The Canes have a three-game winning streak after beating the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Eastern Conference leader, on Tuesday. They now face a Blues team that's rolling, that's second in the Central Division and now four points behind the division-leading Nashville Predators.

Coming off a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes coach Bill Peters sees no reason to make changes. "Keep rolling," he said Wednesday.

Cam Ward will be the starting goalie Friday for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Vancouver Canucks and Andrej Nestrasil will be in the lineup.

What if you had one goalie who was a lot more effective and comfortable in shootouts while the other goalie struggled? Hypothetically, one goalie could start a game and another relieve him if there's a shootout. It's unconventional but an idea that interests Carolina Hurricanes coach Bill Peters.
